Review of Yoga Download's Prenatal Vinyasa

I love yoga download and have practiced yoga with many of their classes. I recently listened to a prenatal vinyasa flow class taught by Jennifer Lux, a trained birth doula and prenatal yoga instructor who teaches at Warrior Academy Yoga in Denver, Colorado.

Most of the classes through yoga download are audio classes, and so you can easily take yoga anywhere by downloading the class of your choice onto the ipod of your choice. I've loved this method of yoga, as I don't always have time to make it to a class, and I don't have a television in my room in order to practice with a video, and my bedroom is my favorite space to practice.

One downside to practicing with audio classes is that you really need to already have a basic understanding of yoga and the postures in order to keep up with the class. Yoga download does provide a pose guide that you can download and study prior to any audio class in order to better understand the poses before you get started in your practice.

You can purchase either the 20, 30 or 45 minute class and all of them are geared for any stage of pregnancy. This is a gentle flowing yoga practice.  The cueing is well done, and the class flows nicely. Jennifer holds the poses just long enough to be able to feel the stretch. She encourages you to use your yoga blocks to help get into the poses when your body grows to the point that your center of gravity has changed and your balance may be off.

As far as safety goes, Jennifer is right on target. Her experience as a birth doula serves her well, and she understands how to protect you while practicing during pregnancy. She encourages you to use your yoga block to help you get into poses, and there are no poses on your stomach. Jennifer is extremely attuned to the needs of the pregnant woman's growing and changing body and this class will stretch and tone your muscles, and open your pelvis in preparation for labor. She also explains how different poses prepare the muscles for labor and delivery.
